Tla’amin Nation Elders are fiercely resilient and hardworking, and create a self-reliant community that understands when to ask for help. In this emotional premiere from Cameron sinkʷə Fraser-Monroe, he draws on his traditional, contemporary, and ballet practice to share the story of a leader facing burn out who must learn the hard way to lean on his community. šɛgatəm has been co-commissioned by New York City Center and Bard College Center for Indigenous Studies for the 2024 Fall for Dance Festival. Support for new dance works at New York City Center is provided by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation and the Arlene Shuler Artistic Innovation Fund.
