May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, & Two Spirit People (MMIWG2S) in the United States and Canada.
This year, Bard Center for Indigenous Studies & Rethinking Place host a day of remembrance & making, intended to raise awareness through holding space & comfort for those who need it.
Poet Bonney Hartley (Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican) will read her works and lead collective readings of her & her mentors poetry. Followed by a short reception, Rachel Martin (Tlingit/Tsaagweidei) and Moonoka Begay (Ndéé/Diné) will lead a collective art making project.
