As part of Native American Heritage Month programming, we are excited to screen Powwow People (2025) on November 5th at 7:00pm in Weis Cinema. Directed by Sky Hopinka (Ho-Chunk Nation/Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians), “Powwow People is a vérité- style documentary grounded in the rhythms, relationships, and lived experience of a contemporary Native gathering. Rather than entering as outside observers, the filmmakers organized the powwow itself, inviting dancers, singers, vendors, and community members to participate in the making of this film.” Powwow People had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, September 9th, 2025 and its US premiere at the Camden International Film Festival, September 13th, 2025.
